This year, it seems like December days were all hemmed in holiday songs. Yours, too?
And now, with the strains of “Joy to the World” and “Away in a Manger” fading away for another year, it brings us to the days after Christmas. Although torn wrapping paper has barely been swept away and dinner dishes languish in the sink, we find ourselves sighing with relief. “All is calm, all is bright…” For a little while, anyhow.
Before we know it, it’ll be “Manic Monday” once again. We’ll start our engines for the next lap in the rat race...
Right now? In one corner, our pre-teen and his teenage sib sit with their heads together over a newly opened video game. Logs on the crackling fire, carols in the air... (Did I mention that it’s on DVD?) I’ve got my cup of Christmas tea. A slice of pumpkin pie with extra whipped cream. Snuggling on the couch with my sweetie by the twinkle of the Christmas lights.
Ahhhh. These are the joys of Christmas. “All is calm…”
