Red, White & Blue!

Tish Benjamin

The hottest holiday of the summer is quickly approaching…Independence Day! So, it's a good idea to start planning your celebration now. It doesn’t take tons of planning, effort, or money to plan a fun July 4th party. All it takes is a little creativity.

The first step is decide on a theme.  One of the most popular 4th of July themes is a barbecue. Some other good theme ideas are: Luau Party, Patriotic Scavenger Hunt Party, and Christmas in July.  Now that you have a theme, red, white, & blue balloons and streamers would be the perfect party decor!

The next step (and sometimes the most important step) is to decide on the food.  Once you have an idea of what you would like on the menu, ask your guests for food contributions.  This will make life a little easier for you on the day of the party.  Some menu ideas are: cheeseburgers, hot dogs, BBQ, steaks, and sandwiches. A few great side dishes are: veggie skewers, cole slaw, potato salad, corn on the cob, and chips with dip.  Since no 4th of July party is complete without  a festive dessert & drinks, try a few of my favorites: The American Flag Cake, Southern Peach Cobbler, Sweet Tea, and Sangria.
